Recognition Of Additional CPE Points From Online Training For Renewal Of Practising Certificate Of Secretary And Company Secretary’s License

​In line with the extension of time for the Movement Control Order until 31 December 2020 and the current Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia, SSM agrees to recognise additional Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points for online training to 20 CPE points for the renewal of practicing certificate of secretary based on the following conditions:

(a) A maximum of 20 CPE points per year is recognised for online training until 14 March 2021.
(b) A minimum of 1 CPE point for online training. CPE points are calculated based on the number of learning hours attended. 1 CPE point equals to 1 learning hour.
(c) All types or categories of online training can be considered for CPE points including webinars and e-learning.
(d) Online training can be organised by SSM, professional bodies, regulatory bodies, training providers or in-house.
(e) Secretaries shall comply with the type of training /courses and percentagea of CPE points as set out in paragraph 35 of the Guidelines Relating to Practising Certificate for Secretaries under Section 241 of the Companies Act 2016.

Whereas in the context of complying with the CPE points requirement for the renewal of company secretary's license, SSM agrees to recognise a maximum of 20 CPE points for online training based on the following conditions:

(a) A maximum of 20 CPE points and a minimum of 1 CPE point are recognized for online training during 3 years of the validity of license. CPE points are calculated based on the number of learning hours. 1 CPE point equals to 1 learning hour.
(b) All types or categories of online training can be considered for CPE points including webinars and e-learning.
(c) Licensed secretaries shall comply with the types of courses and the distribution of 60 CPE points which has been predefined in accordance with the Guidelines for Implementation of Mandatory CPE Points for Renewal of Company Secretary’s License.
