List of Registered Secretaries
Section 241 of the Companies Act 2016 has come into operation on 15 of March 2019 which requires any person who are qualified to act as a secretary to register with SSM and obtain Practicing Certificate before he can act as a company secretary.
This provision must be complied with without any exception to ensure that the main objective of the enforcement of section 241 is achieved, namely to create a comprehensive register of company secretaries in Malaysia. With this register, more effective and efficient monitoring and enforcement actions can be implemented by SSM in order to assess the level of competencies and professionalism among individuals who act as company secretaries. Competent company secretaries will have a positive impact on the level of compliance and good governance among companies and the corporate community in Malaysia.
