Malaysian Business Reporting System (MBRS)

About MBRS

The Malaysian Business Reporting System or its acronym, MBRS refers to the submission platform based on the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) format.

MBRS allows for the submission of:

Annual Return (AR);
Financial Statements and Report (FS); and
Exemption Applications (EA) related to the FS and AR.

The guiding principles behind the financial and the non-financial scopes for MBRS is based on the Companies Act 2016, Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standards (MPERS) and Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).

Components of MBRS

Type of Submission

The MBRS Summary Sheet will guide users on the scope of MBRS filing which is allowed under the MBRS submission platform. The submissions however will be determined by the information filled in the MBRS Preparation Tool (mTool).

Steps to use MBRS"

Access SSM’s website and click "SSM4U" at Quick Links.
Register as a SSM4U user.
Follow instruction in the notification e-mail and visit the nearest SSM office for validation as a SSM4U user.
Log-in SSM4U and click "MBRS" icon.

Apply user roles as follows:

Roles	Functions
Company Secretary (Lodger)	A Company Secretary or Company Agent who have the authority to lodge AR, FS and EA to SSM.
Company Agent (Lodger)
Company Secretary Assistant (Maker)	A person who prepare and upload the XBRL file of AR, FS and EA into mPortal.
Company Agent Assistant (Maker)

Follow the instruction as shown on the MBRS screen according to the service required.
Check on submission status at mPortal dashboard. Application result will be notified via e-mail.

Note:

The Company Secretary (Lodger) and Company Agent (Lodger) are required to purchase Digital Certificate (PKI Registration) via mPortal. mPortal will navigate users to 1CRS portal (Pos Digicert Certificate Registration System) to purchase the certificate.
Existing MyCOID users are not required to register as a e-Services user to access mPortal. MyCOID users need to reset password via Forgot Password link in the eServices portal.

MBRS Trainings

SSM has initiated a strategic collaboration with MBRS Training Partners (TP) and MBRS Training Service Provider (TSP) in fulfilling SSM’s objective to equip the stakeholders with comprehensive MBRS knowledge in a consistency manner.

MBRS training programmes offered by SSM and MBRS Training Partners (TP) and MBRS Training Service Provider (TSP) are divided into two:

Introduction to MBRS (MI) – 1 day
Overview of MBRS. How to optimize the use of MBRS Preparation Tool (mTool) and how to prepare and submit Annual Return.
MBRS for Preparers – Financial Statements (MP) – 2 day
Hands-on training for preparers in using MBRS Preparation Tool (mTool) for submission of Financial Statements (FS) and Key Financial Indicators (KFI).
