STATE OF SINGAPORE ORDINANCE, 1959
Section 3. Construction of references to Singapore, etc
3. On and after the appointed day, unless the context otherwise requires any reference in any written law to-
(a)
the Colony, or the Colony of Singapore, or Singapore, shall, in relation to any period beginning on or after the appointed day, be construed as a reference to the State of Singapore established under the State of Singapore Act, 1958

.], of the United Kingdom;[

(b)
the Governor or the Governor in Council of the Colony of Singapore shall in relation to any such period be construed as a reference to the Yang di-Pertuan Negara;
(c)
the Chief Secretary or the Financial Secretary of the Colony of Singapore shall, in relation to any such period, be construed as a reference to the Minister of the State of Singapore for the time being charged with responsibility for the subject in relation to which the reference is made;
(d)
the Attorney-General of the Colony of Singapore shall, in relation to any such period, be construed as a reference to the State Advocate-General if the subject in relation to which the reference is made concerns the powers conferred on the State Advocate-General by the Singapore (Constitution) Order in Council, 1958, and in any other case as a reference to the Minister of the State of Singapore for the time being charged with responsibility for that subject;
(e)
the Council of Ministers of the Colony of Singapore shall, in relation to any such period, be construed as a reference to the Cabinet of the State of Singapore;
(f) the Legislative Council or the Legislative Assembly of the Colony of Singapore shall, in relation to any such period, be construed as a reference to the Assembly constituted under the Singapore (Constitution) Order in Council, 1958;
(g)
any other person holding a public office under the Government of the Colony of Singapore or to any other authority or body constituted in or for that Colony shall, in relation to any such period, be construed as a reference to the corresponding public officer or corresponding authority or body of the State of Singapore.
